BASKETBALL WA AND CSBP FERTILISERS TEAM UP TO STRENGTHEN BASKETBALL IN THE WHEATBELT
Basketball WA is proud to announce a new partnership with CSBP Fertilisers to strengthen basketball activities, events, and employment opportunities in the Wheatbelt region. The collaboration includes providing equipment and resources to local schools, developing coaching and referee programs, and increasing participation in basketball throughout the Wheatbelt region.
Evan Stewart, Acting CEO of Basketball WA, expressed excitement about the partnership and its potential to promote health and well-being while providing opportunities for players, referees, and coaches. “We are thrilled to partner with CSBP Fertilisers and work together over the next three years to increase participation in basketball and offer employment and volunteer opportunities to the region,” Mr Stewart said.
Mark Scatena, General Manager of CSBP Fertilisers, echoed this sentiment and emphasised basketball’s benefits for children’s development of life skills, such as self-esteem, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. The partnership’s focus will be on a range of activities for children, including increasing the number of Aboriginal children engaged in formal basketball programs.
The partnership also includes regional employment of a full-time Development Officer tasked with growing the game of basketball in the Wheatbelt. The BWA Development Officer will formulate a yearly plan to grow current associations, develop associations in smaller towns where basketball is played more informally and create opportunities for athletes to compete, run coaching and refereeing courses, provide coach support, and junior development across towns throughout the year.
Basketball WA has been working over the past 5 years to grow it’s regional network of support and is very pleased that this partnership will allow us to do so in the Wheatbelt.
