MEET OUR NEW APPOINTMENTS ON THE
HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAM

Basketball WA is pleased to announce a number of exciting new appointments, due to a restructure within the team and the continual drive forward with the Board’s Strategic Vision.

David Naylor – PERFORMANCE MANAGER
Following the departure of Brett Coxsedge (previous High Performance Manager), BWA has the pleasure of announcing David Naylor as the new Performance Manager. The WA public would be familiar with David from his previous role of Coach Development and Pathways Manager. Even though the position itself drew a high calibre of applicants, David took on the challenge in taking that next step within the organisation.

On becoming the new Performance Manager, David Naylor said, “after working previously in both the Development Manager and Coach Education and Pathways Manager positions here at BWA I am extremely privileged to be able to step up into the Performance and Pathways Manager position.

I would like to acknowledge and thank former High Performance Manager Brett Coxsedge for the extraordinary work he did for the athletes and coaches in the state during his time here. I know we can move forward and achieve great success as a state and that’s largely based on the great foundation Brett built for the high performance program.

I look forward to further strengthening relationships with all vested stakeholders and working on the floor with our athletes and coaches to help carry on the great legacy that basketball in this state has.”

To contact David, you can email him on david.naylor@basketballwa.asn.au or 6272 0754

Joshua Weir – DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Joshua Weir joins our Development Team as our Development Manager. Joshua comes with not only a wealth of experience but also a passion to give back and help others find success. Joshua also comes from a recent position as Sports Performance Coach for the University of Texas Men’s Basketball team on Head Coach Shaka Smart’s staff, just to name one. Additionally he has also played basketball collegiately in the United States and also as a semi-professional player in Australia. With all this experience, Joshua has developed a great understanding and appreciation of what athletes go through on a daily basis and what it required to perform at high levels of competition.

As Development Manager within Basketball WA, Joshua will be working on a range of Development, High Performance and Pathway Programs, such as the Hot Shot Program, Future Development Program, deliver clinics to local schools  and much more.
