South West Development Weekend

Weekend Development from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October 2017

See the below courses taking place in the South West.

Venue: Geographe Leisure Centre in Busselton.

Community Coaching Course (Formally Level 0) – Friday 20 October

This is the introductory level course which is designed to cover General Principles of Coaching while encompassing basketball specific fundamentals and exploring the role of the coach. Candidates must be at least turning 13 years of age in the year of the course enrolled and no specific basketball background is required. Club coaches, parents, teachers and secondary students with an interest in sports coaching are ideally suited for this course.

Under 14’s FDP – Saturday 21 October (2003, 2004, 2005 Born)

The 2017 SW FDP session focuses on identifying talented athletes in the regions. The session works on a variety of skill and game concepts beneficial to any aspiring athlete.

FDP is the first exposure to concept and game knowledge development. Putting the athletes in competitive environments and giving them the tools to succeed.

Under 12’s Hotshots – Saturday 21 October (2006 & 2007 Born)

The Under 12s Hotshots Program has been designed for players to gain valuable experience and tools to help them improve their game. The goal is to teach the correct fundamentals and skills required at an earlier age, and make quality coaching and tuition available to all young basketball enthusiasts.

The Under 12 Hotshots Program is the first step on the pathway for WA player development under the BWA High Performance Program.

Throughout the year metropolitan and country regions host a skills day with all U12 athletes welcome with Basketball WA running the day’s events with qualified coaches covering the latest drills.

Under 16’s Talent ID Camp – Sunday 22 October (2002 & 2003 Born)

As part of Basketball WA’s High Performance Program in 2017 we are providing a series of Specialist basketball camps to help develop and improve specific skills that are required to reach the next level.

This specialist camp identifies talented young athletes in the region. The content delivered is in align with BWA’s style of play. This teaches young elite athletes skills and concepts required If they wish to play high performance basketball.
