SRDP Squad Announced

Basketball WA is pleased to announce the successful applicants selected to be part of the 2012 State Referee Development Program (SRDP).

The SRDP is designed to identify young, talented referees who possess the skills and work ethic that will hopefully help develop them into future SBL referees and possibly lead to appointments to future junior Nationals.

This year’s coordinators, Robyn Graham and Rod Hislop, will be leading the program after taking over from current National League Referees David Bull and Damian Lyons, who will be moving on to lead the National Referee Development Program as previous mentor Bret Campbell takes a well deserved break.

Basketball WA Education and Training Officer said that referee development is set to be given close attention and support over the coming years.

"Were excited to be giving the necessary attention and focus to our officials and their development. The SRDP and NRDP programs have always been run successfully because of the expertise and knowledge our coordinators possess but in previous years have flown under the radar a little bit- but not anymore. Basketball WA aim to increase the visibility and awareness of our referee development programs and its members."

"Over the past weeks, Basketball WA met with the coordinators of the SRDP and NRDP to review processes and facilitate support and our aim is to move towards the Country Referee Development Program and look at their structures and processes in the coming weeks as well."

The 2012 SRDP Squad is as follows:

Aaron Wiggins (Kalamunda)

Ben Hay (JBRA)

Ben Newton (Stirling)

Brannon Heath (JBRA)

Brock Lowe (Kalamunda)

Josh Bruisma (Lakeside)

Philip Papakostas (Perry Lakes)

Sarah Sciarrone (Perry Lakes)
