Return to Play Conditions for Basketball in Perth and Peel Regions.
NBL1 WEST Friday Games Postponed.
Basketball WA, with the support of Associations has agreed to suspend all INDOOR competition for ALL age groups the next 4 days – 12:01am Tuesday 27th – 12:01am Saturday 1st May 2021 in line with the next stage of restrictions, this is due to the person capacity of 20 per venue and the wearing of masks being too restrictive for normal operations.
As you were aware, we were required to postpone NBL1 West Round 2 games and we are continuing to work with our Associations to reschedule those fixtures.
A decision regarding our Round 3 NBL1 West fixtures and our WABL Round 2 fixtures due to be happening this weekend the 1st & 2nd May will be made later in the week once more information is available regarding any further restrictions – we are working with all stakeholders on potential new dates and times as Fridays NBL1 West games will exceed the 20-person capacity limit for indoor sporting and community venues.
We will work with Government and our Associations to understand future restrictions and whether basketball can resume being played.
These guidelines are developed with the primary intention of ensuring good hygiene and restricting the number of people within stadiums at any one time to reduce the chances of person-to-person transmission of COVID-19.
Training is permitted under the following guidelines:
Our community’s safety and health is a priority, so we will continue to follow the latest guidelines and requirements.
Please ensure you follow the guidelines on the WA Government website. https://www.wa.gov.au/
