Basketball WA is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Faulds as General Manager of Performance and Pathways following a competitive and extensive selection process for the newly created role.
Todd will join BWA from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport where he was the Senior Project Manager for Sector Capability. He has extensive experience in leading Performance and Pathway programs overseas with USA Volleyball, interstate with the New South Wales Institute of Sport, and locally at WAIS.
BWA Chief Basketball Officer Tyrone Thwaites said Todd’s achievements in the Performance and Pathways space, his experience within the sports sector, and proven track record in successfully delivering high performance strategic objectives were key to his appointment.
“Todd will lead our growing internal team to execute BWA’s Performance and Pathways strategic plan, including our exciting new Emerging Development Programs,” Thwaites said.
“Importantly, our strategy has been crafted to be system-focused, and Todd brings an outstanding level of experience navigating complex systems with a large number of stakeholders – exactly what this role requires.”
“Our associations have a big role to play in our future success, and Todd brings a strong understanding of evidence-based performance systems, which we know will be welcomed across the state.”
“We are excited to see the acceleration of performance in WA basketball take off over the second-half of the decade with Todd at the helm.”
Incoming General Manager of Performance and Pathways, Todd Faulds, said he was thrilled to be joining one of WA’s leading sports organisations.
“The opportunity to join the team at Basketball WA and actively contribute to the continued development of our athletes, coaches, and the sport throughout WA is an incredibly rewarding and exciting one.” Faulds said.
“I’m grateful to Fabian and Tyrone for this opportunity, and for their tireless efforts in positioning Basketball WA as a highly regarded organisation on and off the court.”
“I’m looking forward to working with the BWA team and the broader community to continue to maximise the richness of their basketball experience.”
Dan Donaldson will take up a new leadership position within Performance and Pathways following three months as interim GM, an elevation Thwaites said reflected Donaldson’s positive influence.
“Basketball WA has been incredibly fortunate to have Dan Donaldson as interim General Manager since October last year, and in acknowledgment of his performance and growth in that time, we have re-structured the internal team to reflect this.” Thwaites said.
“We want to congratulate Dan Donaldson on his elevation to a new role as Head of Coach Development and Operations Lead, taking responsibility for the development of our inaugural WA coach development framework, as well as performance administration, wheelchair and 3×3 operations.
”Dan will assume the responsibilities of Myra Donkin, after she received an outstanding opportunity in the Queensland hotel industry with her family, a move fully supported by Basketball WA.
The role of Head of Athlete Performance and Pathways – Metro will be advertised shortly, following Dan’s elevation into his new role.
Todd will commence as General Manager of Performance and Pathways in early March.
