Basketball WA held one of it’s eight Under 12 Shooting Stars skills days at Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Sunday.
Over 30 kids participated in a five hour skills session with West Coast Waves and Basketball WA High Performance Coach David Herbert.
The Under 12 Shooting Stars Skills Days are the first step in the Basketball WA Development Pathway. Each region in WA is given the opportunity to host a Shooting Stars day with promising players identified from each region and selected to participate in a "live-in" camp in January.
Additional coaches on the day included West Coast Waves squad members Shani Amos (Wanneroo), Taryn Priestley (Cockburn) and development coaches Paul Pinker and Bret Campbell.
Under 12 Skills Days have been held at Cockburn, Perry Lakes, East Perth, Eaton, Busselton, Geraldton, Pinjarra & Wanneroo.
Parents have praised the program as a great new initiative, with kids given a rare opportunity to get together and learn relevant skills from the best coaches in the state.
"Clinic’s such as these are fantastic for emerging generations, so your organisation is also to be commended for committing to development at the grass roots level. Additionally, making available extremely good resources such as Mark adds considerably to the value of these clinics" said one pleased parent.
All identified players that have been selected for the Under 12 Jamboree in January have been announced here.
