Warwick Stadium is moving forward to become one of the largest indoor sports facilities in the state as expansion works get well underway. Formerly known as the Warwick Leisure Centre, this newly rebranded facility is looking to the future, building on 25 years of service to the community.
Considering the significant planning and investment in this community sporting facility that will see it grow to eight indoor sports courts, rivalling the biggest centres in the state, the new Warwick Stadium brand has been developed and launched to match.
While a new website (www.warwickstadium.com.au), social media and signage have been launched, there has also been substantial change to the site with earthworks gathering pace and the scale of this development starting to take shape.
Two weeks into the project at the Churches of Christ Sport & Recreation Association (CCSRA) operated facility, significant progress can be seen from Wanneroo and Warwick Roads. Stadium patrons, including some very eager and enthusiastic boys and girls (both young and old), have enjoyed a closer look, keenly watching from the fence line as the heavy machinery goes to work.
CCSRA Executive Minister Scott Joy noted that the new Warwick Stadium brand reflects the significant and prominent nature of the new expanded facility.
“We have the vision and continued passion to see this place of community grow and become the sports facility of choice for players, coaches, officials and spectators to positively interact,” he said.
Earlier this month, a ceremonial ‘Turning of the Sod’ event was held on site to celebrate the commencement of construction for the $8million expansion project, with community and sport leaders representing both local and state bodies in attendance.
