Aussie Hoops is the National junior basketball curriculum that aims to introduce kids to basketball in a fun and safe environment. The major partnership sponsor is Vicinity Centers.
Aussie Hoops was introduced in 2002 with the support of the Australian Sports Commission.
The Aussie Hoops program is about kids having fun and using a "game sense" approach, while learning the experience of basketball by playing a series of games. Aussie Hoops is for boys and girls of any ability (including wheelchair) and between the ages of 5 and 12 years. It can be played all year around, indoors or out and has many activities. You don’t even need a hoop!
Aussie Hoops will help take your junior program to be more professional and organized, by providing your association with:
A 3 stage, 8 week basketball program that is designed for anyone to be able to coach (ie. Parents and volunteers)
Online registrations to decrease administrative work and cash handling (also increasing commitment of participants and creating a club database)
A high quality participant and coach pack including a Spalding basketball, backpack and singlet!
Marketing and media resources to help strengthen the appearance and professionalism of the program to the wider community

Sporting Schools
Aussie Hoops is delivered in schools all over Australia as part of the Australian Sport Commissions, Sporting Schools initiative. Schools receive a grant to fund a sports program at the school and the Aussie Hoops program is the Basketball program run in schools. The program can be before, during or after school time, can be a "one-off" session or weekly program. Aussie Hoops at the stadium can either be a holiday camp or weekly program during school term.
This is a great program to advertise to local schools and for the association to reach more kids in their town.
