Experience Where It Counts- Brad Giersch

NBL referee Brad Giersch’s guest appearance and talk to some of the up and coming SBL referees last Friday was lauded as a huge success by all involved last week.

In town to referee Game 1 of the Boomers v Argentina match along with WA’s own Bret Campbell and Damien Lyons, Giersch spoke to the SBL referees on a range of matters including goal setting, coping with stresses, game management and handling conflict. Giersch also spoke about his personal experiences and journey from grass roots officiating through to his International experiences- having refereed in a whole host of countries and travelling the world as a high ranking FIBA official.

SBL General Manager and BWA Operations Manager CJ Jackson was present during the presentation and praised this rare opportunity for referee development.

“For his time, energy, commitment and passion to his profession, we hope that his presentation will encourage all referees to pursue the career pathway for referees. Brad has been involved with World Championship and Olympic qualifiers and gave some excellent accounts of his world-wide basketball experiences and where the Australian standard of refereeing stands.”

Basketball WA extends its warmest thanks to Brad for his time in helping the development of our state referees.
