BASKETBALL UPDATE 3 APRIL 2020
BASKEBALL SUSPENDED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID19)
We would like to re-assure the Basketball WA community that we are closely monitoring the updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) from both the Federal and State Government, as well as Basketball Australia, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Sport Australia to assess the current situation of the Coronavirus and its impact on local sporting activities.
As you are no doubt aware from Monday 23 March, indoor sport venues have been closed until further notice. The government has also allowed exercise to continue in groups of no more than two.
Please note that the Basketball WA office is now closed to the public. Any questions you have can be directed via email as per usual. However, all staff will be on leave from Thursday April 9 to Monday April 27 inclusive. Please be patient with any enquiries during this time and we thank you for your understanding.
We understand that basketball is a large part of many people’s lives, and we remain focused on how we can remain socially connected during this time and how we can ensure that we are all in a position to start up basketball when the time is right.
At this stage, Basketball Western Australia has decided to suspend all sanctioned activities, programs and events until May 29. We have been listening to the queries of the public and our community and offer the following clarifications below:
DOMESTIC COMPETITIONS AND TRAINING
Domestic competitions and basketball activities should be suspended until May 29. Updated information will be provided at the end of April.

DIVISION 1 COMPETITION
The Division 1 Competition remains postponed until the weekend of 29 May 2020.
