Fundamental to the position, is the key working relationship with the Western Australia Institute of Sport (WAIS) wheelchair program. Kyle will work closely with local clubs and coaches to ensure that the emphasis and direction of the WAIS program is understood and recognised by the local wheelchair basketball community.

Kyle originates from QLD and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Wheelchair basketball. Some of his recent achievements include:

2014 – QLD Comets Development Coach

2015 – 2017 QLD Rolling Thunder (juniors) Assistant Coach

2014 – 2016 RSL QLD Spinning Bullets Assistant Coach

“It’s great to be given the chance to come on board with a basketball system as successful as WA’s” Kyle said.

“In the past four years I’ve been very fortunate to have been a part of the development of a system in Brisbane working with athletes as young as eight all the way through to the senior elite levels. To see where many of these athletes are now (not just with their sporting ability, but also their attitudes and maturity) because of their involvement in a supportive environment within the sport is something that makes me proud to have been a part of.”

“I’m looking forward to offering whatever I can to support the development pipeline here in WA and taking in as much as I can, knowing that there is a wealth of basketball knowledge and support through Basketball WA and WAIS.”

Kyle commenced duties this week. He may be contacted on Thomas.Kyle@basketballwa.asn.au
