Basketball Head Coach – Joondalup

Special Olympics WA provide competition opportunities for children and adults living with intellectual disabilities. Our focus is on the ongoing participation of players with emphasis on the development and improvement of grassroots skills and physical fitness of our members.

Special Olympics WA is seeking a head coach for the Joondalup Venues West Arena program. After 8 years of service to Special Olympics WA, the current head coach will be stepping down from her role.

The role requires some experience in basketball, however past coaching experience is not crucial. The volunteer role would be supported by a large number of assistant coaches and volunteers. To ensure a quality sports program all of our coaches are accredited by the relevant National Sports Organisation and we can assist with obtaining accreditation.

Come and share your passion in the sport of Basketball with groups of children and adults with an intellectual disability. We support development and provide exciting opportunities to join local programs and pursue competition pathways at a local, state, national and overseas level.

You will need to commit to weekly coaching sessions during the months of March through to November, as well as travelling to competition intrastate, interstate or overseas.

Previous coaching skills and/or working with people with disabilities are not imperative but handy. Candidate must be willing to obtain relative accreditation with support from Special Olympics WA.
