BASKETBALL WA SOUTHERN CROSS CHALLENGE ANNOUNCEMENT

Upon Basketball Victoria’s decision to cancel the Southern Cross Challenge (SCC) Tournament scheduled for January 15-18, 2021,  Basketball WA would like to acknowledge Basketball Victoria’s efforts in these trying times to keep the SCC Tournament afloat and we look forward to rejoining this great development tournament in 2022.

The SCC Campaign and Tour plays a pivotal role in BWA’s Development and High-Performance Pathways, so we see fit to keep these options open for our athletes even if the Tour has been cancelled.

In replacement of the SCC Tour, BWA will be running an internal event over the January 16-17 weekend, at Bendat Basketball Centre for the selected athletes from the SCC trials.

This development weekend will include games and extra off court components to provide a wholistic experience for all involved. The weekend’s focus will be: athlete skill and concept development; information on the BWA High Performance Programming and Pathways; and of course Competition.

The Trial and Preparation phases will remain the same as originally booked and advertised for both Metro and Country Teams.

Please visit the SCC link on the Basketball WA website for dates of trials and preparation

The finer logistics and details of this development weekend will be organised in the coming weeks and communicated to all stakeholders upon finalisation.

If you wish, to not have your son or daughter participate in our alternate scheduled development weekend and receive a refund from your registration to trial, then please email Gareth Allen at gareth.allen@basketballwa.asn.au
