Basketball WA (BWA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Trudi Chesterton to its Board of Directors. In a concurrent move, Ms Chesterton has also been appointed as the new Chair of the BWA Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC), effective immediately.
Ms Chesterton’s appointment to the Board and as FRAC Chair follows her valuable contribution as an Independent Member of the Committee, a role she has held with distinction since February 2023.
Ms Chesterton brings to the Board a formidable blend of elite sporting background and extensive international corporate experience. A Chartered Accountant who began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in audit and forensic accounting, she has since built a distinguished career in senior executive and general management roles. For over a decade, she held key leadership positions within the Wesfarmers Group, including General Manager roles within the Industrial and Safety Division, and within Officeworks as the General Manager B2B and Education.
Her core competencies in driving transformational change, financial and commercial analysis, operational delivery, risk management, and stakeholder engagement will be significant assets to the BWA Board and in her leadership of the FRAC. Beyond her corporate career, Ms Chesterton has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community sector through previous non-executive director roles with Parkerville Children and Youth Care and the Intelife Group, and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director for the Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic.
BWA Board Chair Dr Kyle Hoath said he was thrilled to welcome Trudi to the Basketball WA Board and have her step into the role of FRAC Chair.
“Having worked closely with Trudi over the past two years as a member of the Committee, we have directly witnessed the tremendous value of her insight.” Hoath said.
“Her deep financial acumen, strategic mindset, and proven leadership in complex organisations make her the ideal candidate to lead our finance and risk functions.
“This appointment ensures not only strong continuity but also an elevated level of strategic financial governance as we continue to drive the growth and development of basketball across Western Australia.”
Ms Chesterton’s elevation to the Board and as FRAC Chair ensures strong leadership and continuity of robust financial governance for the organisation.
Basketball WA is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr En Khong as an independent member of the FRAC. Mr Khong is the Director of Stirling Partners Chartered Accountants, a role he has held for over 13 years, and brings more than two decades of experience in accounting, taxation, and business services. A Chartered Accountant and ASIC-registered SMSF Auditor, Mr Khong’s expertise in financial compliance, strategic planning, and risk management—honed through his work with small-to-medium enterprises, not-for-profit organisations, and consolidated groups—will be a significant asset to the Committee.
