Constitution gets the go-ahead for Basketball WA

Held at the new $45 million dollar WA Basketball Centre in Floreat, Sunday 22 May saw the 2011 Basketball WA Annual General Meeting take place with thirty seven representatives from metro and country member associations and life members in attendance.

Members were invited to vote, and, after more than two years in the making, Basketball WA are proud to announce the inception of a new Constitution.

Signifying an important and progressive day forward for the future of Basketball in the state, the new Constitution brings Basketball WA in line with modern governance structures in order to provide more efficient and effective support to its members.

Chief Executive Officer Rick Smith said “the new Constitution lays a solid platform from which to grow and develop the sport and business of basketball in Western Australia”.

Mr Smith also wished to thank the members for their valuable input and support in both attending the Annual General Meeting and in voting to adopt the new Constitution.

“Member representative travelled from as far afield as Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and the South West of the State in order for the necessary quorum to be achieved, and for that we are extremely grateful” Mr Smith said.

Over the coming months, the Executive, Council and Commissions will be dissolved and elections for new positions will begin.
