WA Basketball player Madeleine Dennis (Kalamunda) has been selected in the Jayco Australian Under 17 Women’s team to compete at next months 2014 FIBA Under 17 World Championship for Women.

Dennis attended a final training camp on 22-25 May in Canberra, from which the final team was selected. Megan McKay (Perry Lakes) also attended the camp, however unfortunately missed the cut and was named a reserve.

It has been a busy period for Dennis recently, having toured China in June, playing a hectic nine-game schedule against Under 19 teams from China and Slovenia as well as a team from the USA, returning home with an impressive 5-4 record.

The 2014 FIBA Under 17 World Championship for Women will be held in the cities of Klatovy and Plzen in the Czech Republic from 28 June to 6 July.

The Australian team will face Mexico, Slovakia and Japan in their group stage fixtures, looking to advance to the knockout rounds.
