BWA New Performance & Pathways Advisory Group – EOI

Expressions of Interest Open for Basketball WA’s New Performance & Pathways Advisory Group

Basketball WA is calling for suitably qualified individuals to express their interest in joining the newly established Performance & Pathways Advisory Group.

The formation of this group comes ahead of the launch of the 2025–2028 Performance & Pathways Strategic Plan, which will guide how BWA supports athletes, coaches, and officials to reach their potential through a system designed to overachieve by design.

The Advisory Group will play a key role in helping to activate the strategy, providing insight, challenge, accountability and advice to ensure best practice is applied consistently across WA’s high-performance and pathway environments.

This new group adds to Basketball WA’s growing advisory network, following the establishment of the Female Participation and Engagement, Technical Officials, and Junior Competitions advisory groups earlier this year.

Together, these groups reflect BWA’s commitment to ensuring broad perspectives, expertise, and lived experiences are represented when shaping the future of the sport in Western Australia.

Basketball WA Chief Basketball Officer, Tyrone Thwaites, said the creation of the Performance & Pathways Advisory Group is another important step in strengthening how basketball is developed and delivered across the state.

“Our new Performance & Pathways strategy sets a clear direction for how we identify and support talent, develop coaches, and create environments where people can perform at their best,” Thwaites said.

“Establishing an advisory group ensures we have the right people around the table to both challenge and guide that work.

“It brings together voices from across our basketball ecosystem, from community to elite, to help us continually raise the standard and make sure our system remains uniquely designed for WA.”

Expressions of Interest are now open for individuals with relevant experience or expertise in athlete development, coaching, performance environments, wellbeing, or related fields.

Members will meet regularly (commencing in 2026) to provide strategic advice and practical feedback to support the ongoing development and delivery of the Performance & Pathways system.
