Referee development is set to get a massive boost with news that experienced and International referee Brad Giersch will be a special guest speaker while on duties as one of the trio referees scheduled for the Boomers versus Argentina game on June 25.
Giersch, who will be joined by WA duo Bret Campbell and Damien Lyons in controlling the first of the International series, will spend time with SBL referees to help address development issues and provide an insight into the challenges and experiences of a top flight referee. The New South Wales native is sure to deliver his wisdom to the current crop of SBL referees and provide guidance across a variety of referee areas.
Education and Training Officer Vlad Alava was excited by prospect of having Giersch address the 2010 SBL referees.
“Brad is a very experienced referee who will provide our current roster of SBL referees with some fresh ideas and exposure to what referee experiences are like at the top. His international experience has him well versed in officiating expectations not only in Australia but in the world game. Being from the east coast, he gives our referees a difference voice to hear. We are very fortunate that Brad has agreed to help the development of our officials through sharing his experience through this event.”
The event is limited to SBL referees only and details are as follows:
