Intern Basketball Strength &Conditioning Coaches

Basketball Western Australia is seeking intern strength and conditioning coaches for the upcoming National Intensive Training Program (NITP). The NITP program offers Strength and Conditioning services for approximately 50 talent identified athletes (male and female) across Western Australia.

The advertised position is to, under the guidance of the Basketball WA Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, develop, deliver and monitor the strength and conditioning program at one or more of our strength and conditioning locations in the Perth Region. Interns are required to independently deliver a minimum of one 60 minute session before or after school on a given weekday along with attending professional development meetings with the High Performance staff. The successful applicants will get the opportunity to conduct two comprehensive performance testing sessions and four Performance camps enabling them to work alongside current State and National coaches. Basketball WA is based at the WA Basketball Centre in Floreat, however services will also run in Northern and Southern venues.

Required Qualifications /Experience

  • Level 1 (or soon to obtain) ASCA Coaching Qualification
  • Working with Children Check card
  • Desire to pursue a professional career as a strength and conditioning coach.
  • Be committed to the entire program from September 2014 to June 2015
  • Ability to design safe and effective resistance training sessions for pre-elite athletes.
  • Ability to demonstrate and instruct basic speed and agility programs for basketball.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate and report to the Basketball WA High Performance Manager and the Basketball WA Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.


Desired Qualifications

  • Sport Science degree or currently completing Sport Science degree.
