NBL1WEST COMPETITION PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS.
As stated on January 25th 2022, via the WA Basketball Community Operations Alert, Basketball WA released their competition guidelines for returning to sport. As part of this announcement, it was noted Basketball WA would work with the WA State Government and Associations on the requirement for Proof of Vaccination for our elite competitions.
With our NBL1 West competition due to tip-off in 28 days, Basketball WA can now confirm that Proof of Vaccination will be required for all individuals entering NBL1 West venues/stadiums (unless medically exempt) for all trainings and games including players, coaches, technical officials, spectators, volunteers and staff. The NBL1 West competition does not meet the criteria for ‘community sport’ and therefore is not exempt from the requirement for proof of vaccination.
The health and safety of our basketball community is our number one priority. The NBL1 West management team will work with all Associations over the coming weeks to ensure all are across the requirements and ensure protocols are in place to allow games to safely continue through the impacts of COVID.
Face masks will continue to be mandatory inside our NBL1 West venues, unless actively eating or drinking. Patrons without a mask will be refused entry. Showing proof of vaccination and checking in when entering events or venues are important parts of our public health response to protect WA from the spread of COVID-19.
Remember to show respect and kindness to all staff members when you are required to checkin or show proof of vaccination. Our basketball volunteers and staff are there to assist you to fulfil the requirements announced by the WA State Government.
