New Basketball WA Staff

Basketball WA is pleased to announce the appointment of several new staff members in new roles.

Participation Officer
Georgia Clarke joined Basketball WA on July 13 in the newly created Participation Officer role. Georgia will oversee the Smarter than Smoking Association Cup program, Sporting Schools and Aussie Hoops.

Georgia comes to Basketball WA from Perry Lakes Hawks where she is an active WABL Coach, SBL player and coordinates the junior referees for their domestic competition. Having experience with Sky Play Sports and with Hawks holiday programs, Georgia has plenty of experience in the area of participation and will be a great asset to the team at BWA and for our Associations.

Development Officer
David Naylor will join the Basketball WA team on August 3 in the role of Development Officer. David joins us from Geelong where he is a coach for the Geelong Supercats Youth League team. David is also the current Head Coach of the Victorian Country Men’s Under 16 team and has been involved in Victorian Country basketball.

David will oversee Basketball WA’s underpinning Development Programs including Under 12 Hot Shots and the Future Development Program, whilst providing support to our High Performance Programs such as SPP, NPP and State Teams.

Competitions Administrator – PMBL/Events
Stephen de Wet will now oversee the Competitions Administrator – PMBL/Events role. Stephen was employed in the BWA Reception/Admin Support role previously. Stephen comes from previous experience at UWA Sports working within their venue in a bookings role.

Stephen has now begun his new role and Darrsh Clarke has moved into the Competitions Administrator role overseeing the WABL competition.

Reception/Admin Support
Kelly Bergsma will begin in the Reception/Admin Support role on July 27. Kelly joins BWA after some time in the film industry and has also been a Soccer coach in the Netherlands and until recently was working with Good Sport and is a trainer at the West Perth Football Club.

These exciting new roles have been designed to focus on our core business and provide a stronger service to our Member Associations. Please make all of our new staff welcome as you see them around the local basketball community.
