The SBL Pre-Season Blitz starts tonight (Friday February 26) with all twenty six SBL teams to hit the courts at Kalamunda (Ray Owen Sports Centre) from February 26 to March 1.

The Pre-Season Blitz has not been run since 2003 and has been re-introduced by Basketball WA for the 2010 SBL Season to give teams valuable practice games just two weeks before the regular season commences.

Operations Manager CJ Jackson believes the tournament will be beneficial for everyone involved.

“The tournament provides teams, officials & administrators with valuable experience ahead of the season.”

“In addition, the tournament will help raise the profile of the league. Basketball fans have been asking for the return of the pre-season tournament for some time now and this is their chance to get down and support their teams and the league, it will be a weekend full of great basketball action.”

Many of the teams will be fielding strong teams for the tournaments with several teams set to play their US imports and Perth Lynx players.

This will be the fans only chance in 2010 to see every SBL team in action at the same time, in the same building. For just $6 entry you can catch a full day’s action.

Make sure you check out the Fixtures/Results website this weekend with all results being updated during the weekend and the two Grand Final games being streamed live to the internet.
