Abstract: While many coaches and elite youth athletes recognise the importance strength and conditioning in enhancing sport performance, does your training develop movement athleticism for sport readiness?  This presentation shall overview how to develop movement athleticism through training progressions and provides examples from the International award winning ‘Athlete Development Model’ employed by the Western Region Academy of Sport.  Coaches will be exposed to ‘current practice’ and develop greater practical understanding of the importance of the movement competency screening, functional progression, athlete individualisation, and proactive recovery strategies to enhance sports performance.  The end result is an athlete who is sport ready.
