Revamped U12’s Hotshots Program 2018

In 2018 BWA is revamping our U12’s hotshots progam. BWA is excited to announce that in 2018 we will be hosting a Hotshots Jamboree. Our goal is to bring U12’s athletes from all around the state together for a weekend of learning and competition.

The road to the Jamboree starts with our regional hotshots skills days. In February there will be an open hotshots skills day for any U12’s athlete born in 2007 or 2008. The skills days at each session will teach centralized content that each region is covering around the state. Each session will be conducted by a BWA endorsed camp head coach. Local association coaches will also be helping to deliver the program. The hotshots program aims to deliver fun skill day content focused around the Fab 5 (Passing, shooting, dribbling, footwork & guarding your man)

There will be skills days in the following areas…

  • Peel – 9am to 12:30pm 4th February, Mandurah Aquatic & Recreational Centre
  • Mid West – 4 to 7pm 3rd February (Boys)/ 10th February (Girls), GABA
  • Pilbara – 9am to 12:30pm 4th February, Karratha Leisureplex
  • Great Southern – 9am to 12:30pm 4th of February, Albany Leisure & Aquatic Centre
  • South West – 9am – 12:30pm 4th February, Eaton Recreation Centre
  • Metro – 9am to 12:30pm, 4th February, Wally Hagan Stadium
  • Goldfields – TBD

From each skills session, athletes from each region will be selected to attend the Hotshots Jamboree! The Jamboree takes place on April 14th and 15th (Cockburn Arc & Bendat Basketball Centre).

Jamboree athletes will be placed in a team and assigned a camp coach for the weekend. They will receive a participation pack with their jersey, a bag, water bottle, shirt, and other merchandise.

Athletes will play multiple games and be put through multiple training sessions with BWA coaches. The Jamboree sessions will further the teachings explored in the Hotshot skills days.

The Jamboree encourages competition from both country and metro athletes around the state. It allows kids to experience a competitive environment whilst learning fundamentals in a fun and encouraging space. It introduces athletes to tournament style basketball laying a solid base for fundamental skills moving forward.
