SBL Commission Update

Former SBL Championship winning coach, Craig Mansfield, has been elected by the SBL Clubs to join the SBL Commission on a 2-year term.

Craig, a well-known figure throughout the Western Australian basketball community, has coached over 350 games across 14 seasons in the SBL with Swan City, Kalamunda and Lakeside, with whom he won the WSBL Championship in 2018. Craig’s extensive basketball resumé also includes 7 years as Head Coach of various WA State Teams with multiple top four appearances.

The BWA Board has also announced additional structural changes to the SBL Commission, with BWA Deputy CEO, Evan Stewart replacing BWA CEO Rob Clement on the Commission who is stepping aside while holding a current Board position with Basketball South West. The BWA Board has appointed Evan to role of Chief Commissioner.

The BWA Board has re-appointed Jonelle Morley to the SBL Commission for a 2-year term and appointed Andy Stewart for a 1-year term. Andy was formerly a Club elected Commission member.

BWA Board Member Brian Atkin, who previously held the Chief Commissioners role, is stepping down after guiding the Commission through significant structural and operational change over the past 18 months.

“We thank Brian for committing his time to the SBL Commission and playing a critically important role in overseeing the successful operations and growth of your States premier competition,” acknowledged BWA Chairman Mr. Keith Dunlap.

“On behalf of Basketball WA, we are pleased to have Craig and Evan join the SBL Commission and look forward to their contribution to the SBL”.
