Basketball Australia Statement on Australian Under-16 Championships

Basketball Australia is saddened to advise that the 2021 Australian Under-16 Championships, set to be held at Warwick Stadium (WA) commencing Sunday 3 July, will not proceed. 

Due to the recent outbreaks and subsequent border closures across the country, it has been determined that the minimum number of teams required to compete cannot be met. 

Basketball Australia would like to thank the State and Territory associations along with their athletes and families for their continued commitment to the Australian Junior Championships. 

We also would like to acknowledge Warwick Senators Basketball Club for their incredible work in preparing to host the 2021 championships. An enormous amount of work has been done from staff and volunteers in the lead up and we extend our thanks to them and their community. 

Basketball Australia, in consultation with the State and Territory Associations, is reviewing options for rescheduling this championship. 

All ticketholders will be provided a refund, no action is required to request a refund.
