WA Players Invited to Attend Boomerang’s Camp

Basketball WA is pleased to announce David Rulyancich and Kenneth Opoku have been invited to attend the All Australian Camp for the Boomerangs (Australian Men’s Basketball team for Players with an Intellectual Disability) to be held in Melbourne from 18 April – 21 April 2014.

Both players showed outstanding form at the recent 2014 Under 20/Ivor Burge Australian Junior Championships held at Ray Owen Sports Centre in Kalamunda, which obviously caught the eye of the Selectors and in particular Simon Robinson, Head Coach.

David and Kenneth will join other selected players from across Australia to participate in the 2014 Boomerangs training camp. At the conclusion of the camp, a squad will be chosen to compete in a mid-year Tournament in Australia as part of the preparation process for the 2015 INAS Global Games in Ecuador.

Ed Thieme, Assistant Coach, and Winsome Mortimer, Development Coach, of the 2014 WA Ivor Burge men’s team will accompany these two players to Melbourne. This camp will give both Ed and Winsome an opportunity to also observe coaching principles applied there and include them in their coaching roles when they return to Perth.

Basketball WA would also like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to Chris Saligari, Head Coach of the 2014 Ivor Burge Men’s team. Because of her knowledge and experience, Ivor Burge players are developing their skills in the quest for higher achievements. Well done Chris!!!
