Waves to tackle Fire & World Record held by Bucks

This Friday night the Alcohol. Think Again West Coast Waves will tackle the top of the table Townsville Fire at the WA Basketball Centre, a familiar team for two Waves coach David Herbert and recruit Rohanee Cox.

Head Coach David Herbert was in charge of the Fire for six seasons and even lured new Waves recruit and WA Olympic star Rohanee Cox from the then Perth Lynx.

Cox suited up for the Fire for four seasons from 2005 to 2009 and averaged 19.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists and also won a Silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

This season Cox returns to her home state to play for the Waves and help build the new WNBL program in WA and Friday night will be her first game against her former team.

The Waves will also be fighting a battle off-court with a call to all basketball fans in WA to help the Waves break the Milwaukee Bucks Guinness World Record for the longest timed Mexican wave.

Andrew Bogut and his Milwaukee Bucks crowd hold the current record at 6 minutes and 25 seconds which was set back on December 20, 2008.
