BWA Coaches Club is proud to announce that it has secured the time and services of Super14 Western Force Rugby Coach John Mitchell (see below) as its next guest speaker.

In a rare opportunity for members, Mitchell will talk about his experiences as an elite level-coach in the premier rugby competition in the southern hemisphere, with the Super14 Rugby competition encompassing teams from South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

John will share his experiences in coaching across a variety of facets – player management, planning methods, player development, and talent identification while also talking about the nature of the rugby as a sport.

BWA Education and Training Officer Vlad Alava endorsed the opportunity to hear from the Western Force coach as an exciting one for WA’s basketball coaching fraternity.

“Firstly we thank both John and the Western Force Organisation through General Manager Mitch Hardy for taking up our request for John’s time. We welcome the opportunity to hear from one of WA’s elite coaches in an alternate elite competition. We at BWA believe that the opportunity for coach education encompasses hearing from the elite in our own sport, but to hear from another is an opportunity far too good to resist. John will be able relay not only his elite personal coaching experiences but also give our coaches an insight to different coaching practices and philosophies from which they can expand their knowledge.”

“Cross-sport knowledge interaction has been around in the professional ranks for the best part of 20 years and to have it available at the grass-roots community is a rare occurrence. I encourage all members and guests to attend for their own personal coaching development.”

Mitchell’s will address be open to BWA Coaches Club members- past and present. Members are encouraged to book their place at this event by urgently emailing Vlad Alava at vlad.alava@basketballwa.asn.au.
