Willetton Basketball Association Inc (WBA) and the Albany Basketball Association are pleased to announce a partnership that will see the further development of Country Basketball in the Great Southern Region.
The Memorandum of Understanding outlines the co-operation between both Associations to foster player, coach and referee development. Each Association will have the opportunity to play in local tournaments and events and Willetton will hold player development camps and coach education sessions in Albany.
"Willetton has a long history of developing WA players in the metro region and are excited to assist the Albany Raiders with the growth of Basketball in the Great Southern Region. With Albany looking to bring in an SBL program in the future, we hope we can assist in the growth of a strong junior base" WBA Chairman Phil Nixon said.
Albany’s Chairman Craig Tester said that “Albany Basketball Association is really happy with signing the MOU with Willetton”, adding “the relationship strengthens the pathway for our players to play at the highest levels and a chance to up skill our local coaches. We also hope Willetton’s experience and history in the State Basketball League (SBL) may help Albany back into the SBL in the future.”
The partnership may include co-operation between both Associations at the Basketball WA State Championships in December.
