New Board Appointments 2025-2026

Basketball WA (BWA) is pleased to announce that following the 2025 Annual General Meeting held on 30 April, Michael Quirk has been re-appointed to the Board, and Rebecca Hargrave has been appointed as a new Board member.

Michael Quirk

Michael is currently the Director Community Development at the City of Stirling and has been a Basketball WA Board Member since September 2022.  As a Local Government Executive and passionate advocate for community sport, Michael brings valued expertise closely aligned with our strategic priorities to increase places to play and grow the social impact of basketball.

“Basketball is experiencing unprecedented growth although the challenge now is ensuring that competitions, governance, facilities, programs and resources keep pace so that our sport remains accessible and inclusive for anyone who wants to participate.  In particular, I am focussed on assisting our Associations to deliver improved facilities and additional courts through the highly valued support from State Government and many Local Governments.  I am also a strong advocate for 3X3 as an alternate pathway for participation from grassroots through to the State, National, Asian and International stage.”

“I am genuinely thankful for the support and trust from the Affiliated Associations which has enabled my re-appointment to the Basketball WA Board.  I look forward to working alongside them as well as my Board colleagues, Basketball WA Team and broader basketball community to improve the lives of Western Australian’s through basketball.”
