2024 HP Team Programs – Coaching Applications

Basketball WA are currently taking coach applications for 2024 HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAMS

Coaches can apply to the following programs:

 

Please note: All coaches wishing to apply and participate in our High-Performance programs, must provide proof of a valid “Working with Children Card” or a receipt of application.

Coaches that are interested in applying for STATE or SPP teams should view the High Performance Coach Appointment Overview  and coach job descriptions (listed below) prior to applying.

 

SOUTHERN CROSS PROGRAM

The 2024 Southern cross program will run from late September through to late January and will target under 14 and under 15 athletes.

Basketball WA will be selecting the following teams to participate in this program:

  • Under 14 BOYS SCC
  • Under 14 GIRLS SCC
  • Under 15 BOYS SCC
  • Under 15 GIRLS SCC
  • Under 14 METRO BOYS
  • Under 14 METRO GIRLS
  • Under 14 COUNTRY BOYS
  • Under 14 COUNTRY GIRLS
  • Under 15 METRO BOYS
  • Under 15 METRO GIRLS
  • Under 15 COUNTRY BOYS
  • Under 15 COUNTRY GIRLS

 

Applications will be taken for the following positions:

 

Please note assistant coaches for the SCC TEAMS are not traveling position’s.

COACHES THAT WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE SOUTHERN CROSS PROGRAM POSITIONS PLEASE APPLY HERE

Applications for this program close 5:00 pm Friday 11th August 2023.

 

STATE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

The STATE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM (SPP) is aimed at identifying athletes that have potential to represent their state at a national championship and develop the tools required to be successful at that level. The Under 16 and Under 18 State teams will be selected from this program and successful team coaches are expected to participate in this program (dates to be released shortly) and the team preparation of the program they are appointed to

Program running period:

UNDER 16: January 2024 – July 2024 (program dates including trial to be released shorty)

UNDER 18: November 2023 – April 2024 (program dates including trial to be released shorty)

Basketball WA will be selecting the following teams to participate in this program:

  • Under 16 COUNTRY BOYS
  • Under 16 COUNTRY GIRLS
  • Under 16 METRO BOYS
  • Under 16 METRO GIRLS
  • Under 18 COUNTRY BOYS
  • Under 18 COUNTRY GIRLS
  • Under 18 METRO BOYS
  • Under 18 METRO GIRLS

 

These teams will participate in the 2024 National Junior Championships. Dates and locations of these tournaments are TBA by Basketball Australia

Approx. dates of tournaments:

Under 16: Early July 2024
Under 18: Early April 2024

Applications will be taken for the following:

 

HEAD COACHES that are appointed to a team in this program will be expected to book, schedule and plan training sessions and scratch matches for the STATE TEAM one the SPP camps have concluded

UNDER 20 STATE PROGRAM/IVOR BURGE

Basketball WA will be selecting the following teams to participate in this program:

  • UNDER 20 MEN
  • UNDER 20 WOMEN
  • IVOR BURGE MEN
  • IVOR BURGE WOMEN

 

These teams will travel to and compete at the Under 20 and Ivor Burge* National Championships that will be held in February 2024 (exact dates and location to be advised by Basketball Australia)

*The Ivor Burge Championship is for athletes that have an intellectual disability

Applications will be taken for the following positions:

 

HEAD COACHES that are appointed to a team in this program will be expected to book, schedule and plan trials and training sessions (including scratch matches) for the team after the initial trial has concluded.
