Basketball WA is pleased to announce the introduction of the Winter Classic Tournament to the basketball calendar in 2024, which will take place on July 12-14 in Perth, WA.

 For the inaugural Winter Classic in 2024, WABL teams and Regional Associations will be invited to nominate for the mid-season tournament, which will include age groups of, Under 12’s, Under 14’s and Under 16’s. 

To cater for a competition of this scale across one weekend, BWA will utilise 4-5 venues across the metropolitan region to host the event.

“As part of the WA Junior Competitions Review undertaken by BWA in 2023, the requirement for additional tournament play and regional opportunities was acknowledged to promote athlete, official and coach development across Western Australia.”

“The Winter Classic tournament will be a fun, new and exciting addition to the basketball calendar, which will provide the desired development opportunities for our members”, said Adam Bowler, General Manager of Basketball Operations.
