BWA Announces departure of Deputy CEO

Perth, Western Australia – The CEO of Basketball WA, Nathan Cave, announced today that Evan Stewart has decided to resign from his role as Deputy CEO after five years of dedicated service to the sport.

Evan’s impact on the basketball landscape has been instrumental in spearheading discussions and strategic initiatives for the expansion of crucial facilities standing out as a testament to his commitment. Over the past five years, Evan has played a pivotal part in fostering robust relationships with sponsors, state and local government, councils and community organisations, thereby ensuring the continued growth of basketball within the state. Notably, Evan assumed the role of acting CEO for a seven-month period, demonstrating his leadership during a critical juncture.

Reflecting on Evan’s departure, Fiona Notley, Chair of the Board, expressed gratitude, stating, “Over the last five years, Evan has been central to Basketball WA and the Basketball community. We thank Evan for his significant contribution to the sport of basketball and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

While bidding farewell to Evan, Nathan Cave, emphasising the organisation’s steadfast commitment to basketball’s development and growth, asserted, “Basketball WA remains resolute in ensuring additional facilities, engaging stakeholders, achieving our strategy and collaborating with sponsors to propel the continuous growth of our sport.”
