Basketball WA is seeking applications for referees and referee coaches to attend the Southern Cross Challenge in Melbourne in January 2018.

The Southern Cross Challenge is a three day competition starting on Friday 19 January and finishing on Monday 22 January with travel to Melbourne on Thursday 18 January and back to Perth on Monday 22 January.

This development tour is a wonderful opportunity for referees to represent their State at the start of national competition level and is targeted at referees who wish to further develop their officiating. The Southern Cross Challenge is an important part of the development pathway for referees and referee coaches who wish to be selected for Australian Junior Championships in the future.

Eight referees and one referee manager will be selected to attend this tournament, four reserve referees and a reserve referee manager will also be selected and be required to fulfil all requirements prior to the tournament. All referees will receive expert referee coaching and feedback and this tournament experience will provide interested officials with exposure to elite levels of competition.
