The Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup tipped off on Monday with teams competing in Under 18, 16 and 14 competitions for the titles of Male and Female Country Champions.
Teams from across Australia and New Zealand will compete in the next six days, culminating in the finals on Saturday 23 January.
The concept of an Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup was created over twenty one years ago when representatives from South Australian Country, New South Wales Country and Victoria Country met to discuss a "development" program for their outstanding players.
Over the years the "Country Cup" has developed into the most professional and innovative National Title on the Australian Basketball calendar.
Whilst the standards are high and continue to rise and competition is fierce on the court, the original "development" aspect of the Cup has been maintained and become remarkably successful.
