Basketball WA Welcomes the Appointment of Dr Kyle Hoath as Chair of Basketball WA.
24 January 2025
Basketball WA is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Kyle Hoath as the new Chair of Basketball WA. Having joined the board in December 2024, Dr. Hoath was unanimously elected as Chair during the board meeting held on January 22nd.
Dr. Hoath brings a remarkable combination of professional expertise and an enduring passion for basketball to this leadership role. He has also expressed gratitude to outgoing Chair Fiona Notley, acknowledging her exceptional leadership and contributions over the past several years.
“I am truly honoured to step into the role of Chair of Basketball WA, following the incredible leadership of Fiona Notley,” Hoath said.
“Under Fiona’s guidance, basketball in Western Australia has experienced remarkable growth and success, including the recent announcement of government support to enhance basketball’s reach and impact.
While I know I have big shoes to fill, I see this as standing on the shoulders of giants, any future success Basketball WA achieves will be a testament to Fiona’s vision and dedication.
I am excited to build on this strong foundation alongside the board, the Basketball WA team, and the broader basketball community to continue growing basketball and ensuring it remains accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for all Western Australians.”
Fiona Notley will remain on the Board until the Basketball WA AGM in April and acknowledged what an honour and privilege it had been to serve as Chair of Basketball WA.
“I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our basketball community and the team at Basketball WA, who have been instrumental in everything we have achieved,” Notley said.
“I am delighted to hand over the reins to Dr. Kyle Hoath, whose passion for basketball and professional expertise make him the ideal person to lead Basketball WA into its next chapter.
“The recent Government support we have secured positions basketball for an exciting future in WA, and I have every confidence that under Kyle’s leadership, the sport will continue to thrive and reach new heights. I look forward to supporting the transition over the coming months and continuing to contribute to basketball’s success in Western Australia.”
