Basketball WA expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mike Bussell, who sadly passed away last week.

Mike’s journey in basketball began in the late 1960s, where he excelled as a player and an administrator, initially at Perry Lakes Basketball Stadium and later at the Bendat Basketball Centre.

In 1985, Mike undertook the administration and development of the Perry Lakes Junior Competition, expanding it to over 220 teams. He also managed the senior competition at Perry Lakes Stadium and eventually served as Stadium Manager. Mike’s invaluable service to Basketball WA left a lasting impact on countless individuals who used the facilities, forging connections with three generations of families. His dedication was vital to BWA State Teams, SBL and WABL Clubs, the Perth Lynx, and the Perth Wildcats.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the sport, Mike was honoured with life membership in September 2010.
