Thirst for Knowledge Alive and Well

Coach education is alive and well with an amazing 31 participants attending the level 1 coach course held last weekend under the tutelage of well known WA basketball personality CJ Jackson.

The course, on the back of the first level 1 course conducted in 10 years in Geraldton last weekend and this week’s level 1 course for students at Murdoch University, indicates the thirst for knowledge has been as good as ever.

“The level 1 course really gives participants an in depth understanding of the x’s and o’s of coaching fundamental basketball while promoting advanced coaching philosophies.” said Education and Training Officer Vlad Alava.

“It’s a great sign that there are so many in the coaching community who wish to undertake official training and development for not only themselves but subsequently the athletes they coach. Furthermore, the feedback I have been receiving from the participants in Geraldton and here last weekend has been tremendous. At Basketball WA, we always aim to deliver and meet the needs of our community.”

Level 1 courses are conducted by Basketball WA and interested participants or Associations are encouraged to get in contact with Vlad Alava on vlad.alava@basketballwa.asn.au if they wish to register their interest in enrolling in an accredited course.

Alternatively, checking the Basketball WA website and moving to the Education tab will allow the public to view details of planned courses coming up.
