Transition of Perth Lynx WNBL Licence

Over the past four seasons, Basketball Western Australia (BWA) has held the Perth Lynx License and has been the only State Sporting Association in Australia operating a Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) team. BWA has steered the Perth Lynx through a journey marked by on-court success (three finals appearances in four seasons), increased membership, growing ticket sales, and enhanced sponsorship opportunities. As a not-for-profit organisation, BWA has managed this amidst the financial challenges commonly faced by WNBL teams.

Understanding the importance of keeping a strong WNBL team in WA, BWA has transfered the Perth Lynx Licence to a new holder, Perth Lynx Pty Ltd, which is owned by Western Australian family and strong basketball supporters Jodi Millhahn and Managing Director Christian Hauff, who can further enhance the Perth Lynx brand. The Perth Lynx Pty Ltd will be provided management and operational support to operate the team by Sports Entertainment Network (SEN). BWA is committed to a seamless transition for the Perth Lynx and commits our support to ensure the ongoing success of the team as they embark on a new chapter.

BWA continues to implement our overall female participation strategy for basketball in WA and reaffirms its dedication to nurturing the growth and prominence of women’s basketball for all age groups. We extend our thanks to the loyal fans, members, supporters, sponsors, staff, coaches, players, volunteers, and BWA personnel who have contributed tirelessly to the Perth Lynx over the last four years.

This is an exciting new chapter for the Perth Lynx, and Basketball WA eagerly anticipates witnessing the Lynx’s continued growth and success.
