Often Basketball is measured by results, but sometimes life is bigger than points on a scoreboard.
Recently the WA Metro U16 Boys finished 6th at the Australian Junior Championships which is a great result for the team.
However the team’s thoughts were always on another team member back in Perth. Jalen Smith son of former Rockingham Mens Head Coach and State U16 Coach Jason Smith is being treated for Leukemia at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Jalen was the biggest supporter of the team away sending messages of support to the boys and following all games on line. His inspiration was a big part of the teams motivation to do well.
Upon return the team visited Jalen at PMH to present to him his own signed number 7 jersey and thank him for his support.
Well done to Coach Alan Black and the team on preparing a strong group of young men on and off the court.
BWA wishes Jalen all the best in his recovery.
