The Collie Community came together last Friday night for the first of six Friday night 3on3 basketball events.
The night engaged over 100 Collie youths all excited to showcase their basketball skills in the carpark of the Collie PCYC. Playing on a transportable court courtesy of Basketball WA, local youths played in mixed aged groups and showed great community spirit and leadership as they enjoyed the night and activities on offer.
Collie Senior Sergeant, Heath Soutar was on hand to help set up and see all the kids having a great time. “This is such a great community event to be involved in, and to see some of our disengaged youth here enjoying themselves and participating is a wonderful outcome for the community” he said.
The event is supported by the Collie community and its local business’s who have kindly donated their time and resources to ensuring a great night is had by all. A successful community grant through the local Bendigo Bank branch has allowed local organisers to increase the value proposition to participating youth and their families.
The night finished off with a three-point shooting contest between the youths, local teachers, business operators and Collie Senior Sergeant, Heath Soutar.
